Asian Dub Foundation / Sinead O'Connor / Help
Ok, I know its not Trip Hop by any stretch, but had to to give recommendations and ask suggestions after hearing ADF's new album.
I have liked Asian Dub Foundation for some time... was looking through a used CD store and saw them and though 'Hmmm, dub is another type of downtempo... maybe I'll like these guys'. I picked up Rafi's Revenge and never turned back 8)
lol, well I dont think they are really the greatest example of dub... but whatever they are I like :D
I got their new CD 'Enemy of the Enemy' and there is a track on it with Sinead O'Connor... so if you liked the tracks with her on the new Massive Attack you might want to check it out... its called '1000 Mirrors'
The other things that I like about the CD is that it is about current events... they are a very political group and there are a few songs on it about the current situation in the middle east and some anti-globalisation stuff.... if you feel that this is an illegal war, you will like.
So now that I have recomended them... wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions for similar music? About the closest thing that I have sound-wise is maybe Nitin Sawhney or Thievery Corporation... although they have less energy. As far as energy and musical focus go I'd say that Rage Against the Machine would be my closest match...
But I need more of the same guys... I have all there stuff and find myself wanting more... I like this kind of music almost as much as trip hop and I have only 5 CD's compared with my 100 or so trip hop CD's
Wow... that was longer than expected... :?
Thanks in advance for any help
Power to the small massive!
