''Darkest'' Trip Hop tipss

Hello people I?m very interested in bands with that dark atmosphere such as Portishead, that painful stuff like The Cure, The Smiths, etc...

I don't know a thing about trip hop I just happen to find Portishead by gracious luck, and since than I've been looking for other trip hop bands with that same feeling....

I've checked some Dj Shadow, Massive Attack, Earthling, Archieve, Tricky, Sneaker Pimps, but I don't find them gloomy enough.

What bands do you suggest (I love female vocalists) ?
