What are your thoughts?
I have noticed, digging through the forums as I usually do, that there are a lot of new trip-hop and downbeat groups coming out, from all over the world. This is good. This means that trip-hop is still alive and well.
In the USA, as a lot of American fans of trip-hop know, there is not much to listen to... radio would never play music like this. We're too busy shoving teenage pop stars and emo punk bands down everyone's throats.
Thankfully, there's still Europe and the rest of the world... where most great music comes from to begin with!
Jenna and I (Beauty's Confusion), we are always on the lookout for new trip-hop groups to support the music of, new bands to link up, etc. It's great to see there are still groups coming out keeping the Bristol sound alive, in various incarnations... from strong hip-hop-influenced beats (Blue Foundation) to minimalist arrangements (Pomegranate, Lo-Fi, etc.)... it's all good.
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone (the bands, duos, trios, solo artists, and FANS of the music) for keeping this sound alive and well. People thought punk music was going to die back in the late 70s, but it's still alive and kicking. It is my hope that trip-hop continues along the path of music with SUBSTANCE, music with longevity, music with feeling.
Long live trip-hop and downbeat. And thanks to Australia, the UK, Iceland, France, Spain, Denmark, Belgium, Japan, and the rest of the world for constantly putting out music that has nothing to do with image and fashion, and everything to do with integrity, and the music itself! :)
