Norwegian trip hop

I live my life with the assumpton that I like trip hop, whitout really knowing what the definition of trip hop is.
I would think that the Norwegian bands Kings of Convenience and Royksopp would both fall into the trip hop category.
If anyone could give me the def of trip hop, I would appreciate it.
