Classic Trip Hop
Ok just a little question/survey.
Just about every genre has the classics. You know those groups that really brought out the genre and defined it into it's own. The artists that had heavy influence on those afterward. What artist/albums do you think can be thought of (for better or worse) as the classics of Trip Hop. Not just a list of your favorite pre-2000 albums but people who's help shape our perception of what trip hop is.
I'll start with a few which are the considered the big name ones but to me seem to qualify as classics.
1. Sade - Love Deluxe  (Ok, technically not trip-hop but I'm not the only one who feels that way.)
2. Massive Attack - Blue Lines / Protection
3. Trick - Maxinquay / Pre-Millinium Tension
4. Portishead - Dummy
5. Morcheeba - Who Can You Trust
6. Hooverphonic - A New Stereophonic Sound Spectacular
7. Lamb - Lamb
And then there's the myriad of songs from groups like Thievery Corporation, Herbalizer, Skylab, St. Germain. Ohhh...I miss the original www.x-radio.com.
Ok, what is the classics that you can think of.
