Red Snapper
Red Snapper (Richard Thair,Ali Friend and David Ayers) are Kinda hard to put comfortably put in any genre. Their musical roots vary from breakbeats and jazz to surf punk. Their first LP was more a compilation of their former releases, was called "reeled and skinned"('94). It was a unique mixture between dubbed out jazz and subteranean bass. Their debut album, "Prince Blimey"('96) took the British music scene by storm. Leaping from genre to genre with technical agility they plundered the diversity of their backgrounds to mash up dub, jazz, punk, rock, hip hop and techno into a quite dark and unique album. On their second long player "Making Bones"(98) there emerged some new faces beside the core-trio of red snapper like the rapper MC Det who gave his lyrics to "Moving Truck" and the hip hop track "the sleepless". After three years of musical and private problemst hey came back with their 3rd LP In September 200 called "Our aim is to satisfy Red Snapper". It seems that those ups and downs in the creation of this album are reflected in the music, as its mostly melancholik, but still dancable and funky.
