Portishead
Portishead are one of the Pioneers of so called "Trip Hop" and also one of the most influental British Bands in the last years. Beth Gibbons awesome voice is able to express more emotions than anyone elses. Her voice and her Texts together with the songwriting genius of Geoff Barrow and the Guitar play of Adrian Utley makes up the uniqueness of this Band. Their firs LP " Dummy" published in 1994 containes a great variety of great songs such as " Wandering Star" or "roads". Their second album "Portishead" came out 3 years later and is much straighter and sometimes darker than dummy, but better as whole album coz every track fits into a concept. Their latest release was a live album recorded (mostly) at their Live concert in New york city where they played with a complete string orchstra. This LP is more a best of album coz the tracks resembles much to the album versions. After This they had a quit long break and went through some troubles, almost split up. During that time Adrian Uteley has been quite busy in collaborations and other projects. So he released "Warminster" together with Mount Vernon Art Labs and worked on a soundtrack for the movie "the sound of Claudia Schiffer". Geoff Barrow participated in the creation of an official Bristol Music site "Bristolsound.co.uk". Temporarily They are recording their third LP down under in Australia where Geoff Barrow had already been working on the LP. I really Hope that we can hear it in spring 2002.
