Hooverphonic
Influenced by the italian Soundtrack composer Angelo Badalament, Portishead, Massive Attack and similar bands, Hooverphonic released their first LP "A new Stereophonic Sound Spectacular" in 1996, and their single "2 Wicky " became very popular, was played on the radio in many countries and was used in many movie soundtracks. Then in 1998 there came the next step on theit way to become proper and really successful band - They released their second album called "Blue wonder Power Milk", now with a new singer Geike Arnaert. They used less samples and replaced them with wide range of instruments and created an album of etherreal beauty. Their Thrird LP "The Magnificant Tree" in 2001 is another big step forwards. They kept their beautiness of their music, but there are dark moods showing up, and Geikes oh so lovely voice often sonds almost a bit like Beth Gibbons (Portishead), smokey, scratchy and distorted. This album isn't flowing past you that easily, their sound grew somehow more mature and serious.
