Gus Gus
The music of the 9 piece artists collective Gus Gus from Iceland is so various and versatile as the mebers themselves. The band is a result of a short film project, they all have been involved in, so the members of Gus Gus are a popstar (Daniel Agust), one actor (Magnuss Jonsson), one politician and now the bands manager (Baldur Stefansson), software developer (Biggi Thorinson and Dj Herb Legowitz), one photographer (Alfred More) and last but not least the young female singer Hafdis Huld, who had been still at school and singing in the church choir when Gus Gus happened to start existing. The released their first album "Polydistortion" in Iceland in late 1995, and somehow a copy of it found its way to the Indie Label 4AD (Cocteau Twins, Thievery Corporation...) and they released the LP in 1997 and received widespread critical acclaim. Then in 1999 they released their second LP "This is Normal" after they've been quite busy with bands such as Lamb and Cornershop. This is Normal is the sound of a band who have worked out what makes them special, learning from the past with their gaze firmly fixed on the future.
